Family-Friendly Things to Do Around Central Florida in December!

Dazzling Nights at Leu Gardens

Running from November 19th through January 9th, Dazzling Nights takes place in the 50-acre Harry P. Leu Gardens. Tickets cost $22 to $25, and there are additional costs for parking. Guests get to see beautiful light displays, listen to holiday music, watch a redesigned show, and enjoy the stunning lit-up rose garden.

Wekiva Winter Wonderland

Wekiva Island’s long-awaited Winter Wonderland is back again, and we’re excited to celebrate the festive season all December long. In addition to our well-loved activities like daily “snow” flurries, the Christmas tree forest and our 30-ft tall tree, and visits from your favorite Christmas characters, and Santa is inviting all the good boys and girls to his Workshop, right here at Wekiva Island!

Baldwin Park Parade and Tree Lighting

This family-friendly event begins with a holiday festival featuring live holiday performances, artists, vendors, food, shopping, stilt-walkers, balloon artists and photos with Santa. In the evening, there will be an illuminated parade, led by Commissioner Robert Stuart, along with the annual lighting of the holiday tree.

Crane’s Roost Holiday Lighting

Duke Energy teams up with the city of Altamonte Springs to turn on some 200,000 lights and a 60-foot fully decorated tree in the Cranes Roost Park Holiday Lights Display. The event includes live music, train rides, an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, along with a fireworks display. Ice skating and family-friendly activities also take place during the event. There’s no admission cost, and food and beverages are available.

Orlando Science Center’s Dinosaur Light Show

Add some sparkle to the holiday season and see some of your favorite creatures from the Cretaceous in a whole new light! Join Stan the T. Rex and his fossil friends in DinoDigs as they show off their twinkling talent in a festive display of music and light. Each family-friendly show will run about four minutes.

This dazzling light show is included in general admission for a limited time, so don't miss out! Be sure to see it multiple times on your visit, as the experience is different from every angle and the music changes with every show. Shows begin every 30 minutes between 11:00 am and 3:30 pm daily through January 9.

Lake Eola Drone Show

Presented by AdventHealth, this show will feature a dazzling display of synchronized drones flying in formation to create beautiful holiday-themed designs in the night sky. Attendees will be able to sit back and watch the 15-minute light show from the comfort of their own blankets and lawn chairs. The show will be held on Saturday, December 21, with performances at 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM (both featuring the same program).

Oh What Fun at Lake Nona

Gather at Lake Nona Town Center as we light the Lake Nona Christmas tree, a 24-foot beauty festooned with twinkle lights. The first lighting kicks off the holiday season festivities of Oh, What Fun! Enjoy entertainment from our exciting acrobatics show and music performances. The nightly “snowfall” will get you into the holiday spirit.

Asian Lantern Festival

Experience the Zoo like you’ve never seen it before! See dozens of all-new, hand-constructed lantern displays illuminated by thousands of LED lights around the Zoo on a 3/4 mile path. Celebrate the art, beauty and wonder of traditional Asian lantern festivals. Exclusive food and beverage items will be available for purchase.

Guests of all ages can enjoy this unique event. December 6, 2024 from 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Ice at Gaylord Palms

Journey into Buddy the Elf's world to help save the holiday, in this all-new Gaylord Hotels original experience inspired by the hit Christmas film, Elf™. Complete fun-filled activities to muster enough Christmas cheer to power the Kringle 3000 and Santa's sleigh. More than a dozen interactive experiences await in this multi-sensory, immersive Orlando attraction.
